Biography

Mariella Di Ciommo is the associate director of ECDPM's Europe and Africa in the world cluster. She is also a member of the management team. Mariella’s work focuses on EU foreign and development policy, Africa-Europe relations, finance and gender.

Before joining ECDPM, Mariella worked in different roles at Development Initiatives, both in the UK and Brazil. As a strategic partnerships manager in Brazil, she led the organisation’s work on data for development at the country level, as well as work on international engagement on South-South cooperation, climate finance and poverty.

Before joining Development Initiatives, Mariella worked in Italy, Bolivia and Brazil in the fields of sustainability, social development and citizen empowerment, for local organisations and Caritas Internationalis. She holds master’s degrees in social anthropology from the London School of Economics and in economics from Bocconi University.
