From priorities to partnerships: Mobilising investments for integrated development

On 19–20 February 2026, ECDPM, together with the African Union Development Agency-NEPAD (AUDA-NEPAD) are organising the Northern Corridor and Agribusiness consultative meeting to be held in Nairobi, Kenya.  The meeting aims to catalyse integrated investments and policy alignment at the nexus of food security, trade, infrastructure, and climate action.

This is a closed-door and invite-only event.

Background

Building on the successful model of the Lobito Corridor Dialogue in Zambia, this strategic convening serves as a critical platform to catalyze integrated investments and policy alignment at the nexus of food security, trade, infrastructure, and climate action. The meeting aims to translate high-level regional objectives into a coherent framework for green industrialization and climate-resilient development across the Northern Corridor.

Following extensive preliminary analysis and strategic mapping, the meeting will convene senior government officials from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This ministerial-level engagement is complemented by the participation of private sector leaders, international financiers, and key development stakeholders, ensuring a multi-sectoral approach to regional integration.

The dialogue is specifically designed to advance concrete proposals into structured, bankable investment opportunities. Central to these discussions is the validation of key priorities, including:

  • Green Fertilizer Production: Exploring regional opportunities in green hydrogen to develop ammonia and fertilizer production capacity, thereby reducing import dependency and enhancing soil health.
  • Climate-Smart Agri-Logistics: Strengthening the corridor’s logistics infrastructure to mitigate post-harvest losses, streamline trade facilitation, and enhance the efficiency of intra-regional food trade.

Through a series of plenary sessions and thematic breakout groups, the engagement will focus on mobilizing the decisive partnerships and capital required to catalyze transformative projects. By fostering practical cooperation between member states and the private sector, the meeting seeks to enhance national ownership and drive the collective action necessary for resilient agri-food systems and sustainable economic growth along the Northern Corridor.
