Europe as a global actor for climate, security and prosperity

On 11 December 2025 from 16:00-18:00 CET, ECDPM, in partnership with the CONCITO and E3G, will host a workshop on Europe as a global actor for climate, security and prosperity. The workshop will take place in the ECDPM Brussels office (Avenue des Arts 44, 1040 Brussels).

This is a closed-door and invite-only event.

Background

In the aftermath of COP30, the purpose of the workshop is to reflect on key questions related to Europe’s role as a leader in global climate action and aims and to inspire research and co-creation of solutions that can help Europe drive global climate action more effectively in a way that integrates security and prosperity priorities.

The workshop will convene representatives from EU institutions and Member States as well as think tanks and other knowledge institutions for an informal exchange under Chatham House rule. We believe your participation would greatly enrich the discussions and contribute to achieving the workshop’s goals.

The workshops discussion will be structured around three major issues:

  • Security and economic priorities as drivers of Europe’s engagement in the global green transition.
  • Geopolitics and resilience: EU protecting itself and the global system against anti-climate coercion.
  • Europe’s preparedness for the new realities: Coalition-building and an expanded toolbox of incentives and enablers.
