Supporting the Italian G7 presidency
Drawing on our role as a "think and do tank" that bridges research and policy, ECDPM actively engages in providing crucial expertise and strategic support to international policy processes like the G7. This support aims to shape agendas, ensure effective policy implementation, and foster impactful outcomes on key global challenges.
As part of a new video series featuring ten ECDPM experts on our 2024 highlights, Francesco Rampa discusses his support of the Italian G7 presidency, particularly on development and food security, providing the expertise of ECDPM's food team.
A significant aspect of the support was contributing to the declarations of the Heads of State and ministerial declarations, as seen with the Puglia Food Systems Initiative, which addresses the crucial intersection of food systems finance and the food system-climate nexus following our recommendations.
As a result, ECDPM will be supporting the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) in the coming years to create policies and investment plans that attract global resources to improve food security and quality across the continent.
The support of the Italian G7 presidency highlights how ECDPM's expertise helps to identify key priorities and integrate different sectors, such as climate, food security, infrastructure, and trade, in a way that improves the efficacy of development efforts and benefits African partners.
