Implications of COVID-19 and Russia’s war in Ukraine for EU-Africa relations – Development finance
In this brief for the European Think Tanks Group, ECDPM’s San Bilal and Iliana Olivié and María Santillán O’Shea from the Elcano Royal Institute look at how a multitude of crises has affected EU-Africa relations from a financial perspective. They argue that the EU must mobilise resources and expand its range of tools to support African recovery and resilience initiatives.
This brief was prepared for a high-level panel and expert discussion on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine for Africa-Europe relations, organised by the European Think Tanks Group, the UNDP Regional Bureau for Africa and the Swedish Permanent Representation to the EU on 30 November and 1 December in Brussels.
