Biography
Dr San Bilal is the executive director of ECDPM.
San's work focuses on geopolitical international relations, development & climate finance, sustainable investment, economic diplomacy, economic recovery and transformation dynamics (notably in Africa and the Ukraine reconstruction), the European financial institutions and tools for external investments and the Global Gateway, trade and development, sustainable global value chains, private sector and industrialisation dynamics.
San holds a PhD in international economics from the University of Birmingham, a master’s degree from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Geneva. Before joining ECDPM, he worked at ODI, the European Institute of Public Administration and the University of Geneva’s economics department.
San is also a board member of the European Think Tank Group (ETTG) & a Steering Committee Member of the Ukȧmȧ Africa-Europe platform for sustainable development.
