This paper provides a concise overview of how some traditional donors interact and engage with “emerging donors” on development issues. Amongst the donors surveyed, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and to some extent Portugal and Denmark appear to be most active. The importance of emerging economies in defining future frameworks on Global Public Goods is a key driving force behind the efforts to engage with new development partners. What differs is the way in which these strategic goals are pursued. The way dialogue and cooperation is institutionalised also differs widely. The shape of this institutionalisation is highly dependent on the architecture of development policy making in the traditional donor country.
