Alexei Jones

Head – European foreign and development policy

Biography


Dr Alexei Jones is Head of ECDPM’s European Foreign and Development Policy team. He specialises in EU external action, development cooperation and the European Union’s role as a global actor.

His work focuses on how the European Union organises, finances and delivers its external action, with a particular focus on international partnerships, development cooperation and the links between internal and external policy priorities.

Before joining ECDPM, Alexei provided policy advice and technical expertise to organisations including the European Commission, CONCORD, ENoP, GIZ and the ACP Secretariat, and served as an adviser to several Presidencies of the Council of the European Union. He previously worked as a policy officer at the European Commission and has also held teaching and research positions at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis and Sciences Po Lille, and was a visiting researcher at ENDA Tiers Monde in Senegal.

Alexei holds a PhD in Public International Law and Development Studies from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis and studied international and European law at the University of Aix-Marseille.
