Biography

Philippe Van Damme is a distinguished diplomat who has served as the European Union Ambassador to several countries, including Guinea (Conakry), Zimbabwe, Cameroon, and Equatorial Guinea. In his diplomatic career, Van Damme focused on fostering strong relations between the EU and these countries, addressing various political, economic, and social issues.

While in headquarters he worked on renewed aid for trade policies and strategic programming issues, and was policy adviser at the Africa department in the European External Action Service at a critical juncture during the preparation of the new Global Europe international partnership instruments and of the sixth EU-Africa summit, and during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Philippe Van Damme's diplomatic efforts have been marked by his commitment to enhancing EU-Africa relations, promoting human rights, and supporting economic and social development in the regions he served.
