Biography
Dr Koen Dekeyser is a policy analyst in ECDPM's sustainable food systems and climate action and green transition teams.
Koen’s work focuses on making food systems in Europe and Africa work better. By using a systems approach to link food security, sustainability and governance, and by bringing stakeholders together, he provides policymakers with the inputs to make robust policies.
He brings over a decade of experience, working with international bodies including the European Commission, UN’s FAO, and AU’s AUDA-NEPAD. He was a Senior Resident Fellow at the Leuven Institute for Advanced Studies in 2025.
Before joining ECDPM, Koen was a research fellow at South Africa’s DST-NRF Centre of Excellence in Food Security and the Centre for the Study of Governance Innovation. He holds a PhD in political economy from the University of Pretoria and a Masters from Ghent University.
