More food, less emissions: How can the EU align local and global food security and climate action?
On 18 September 2025 from 15:00-16:30 CEST, ECDPM is hosting a roundtable discussion on the future of EU agrifood policy in the context of global food security and climate goals.
This roundtable is closed-door and by invitation only.
Background
As hunger and global temperatures continue to rise, agrifood systems are at the heart of both issues—as the providers of food and as major drivers of climate change. This dual role places them at the centre of two urgent global objectives: achieving zero hunger (SDG2) and limiting global warming to 1.5°C. This roundtable will bring together key stakeholders to assess the EU's role in achieving these goals, using the FAO Global Roadmap as a key reference point. We will also examine the recent developments in EU food policy, as set out in the February 2025 Vision on Agriculture and Food.
David Laborde, Director of the Agrifood Economics and Policy Division at FAO, will deliver a presentation on the FAO Global Roadmap.
