Making public finance and fiscal policy work for gender equality

On 15 October 2024 from 12:00 – 14:00 CET, ECDPM, UNDP and UN Women organised a roundtable discussion about public finance and policy work for gender equality.

In a world where wealth has reached $500 trillion, the persistence of gender inequality showcases the failure of current economic paradigms to create inclusive and equitable development.

Participants in the roundtable will introduce their experiences, concerns and successes. As part of them, UNDP will present its EQUANOMICS initiative as a key example of efforts to reshape economic frameworks for gender equality.

Hosted by ECDPM, UNDP and UN Women, this session will explore how fiscal reforms can transform economies, with a focus on inclusive public finance policies that redistribute wealth, eliminate gender biases, and value care work.

Light refreshments will be provided at 12:00PM, followed by the discussions at 12:30PM.
