Enhancing European financing for adaptation to cascading climate risks
On 25 September 2023, ECDPM will co-host a (hybrid) workshop, titled 'Enhancing European financing for adaptation to cascading climate risks’ and organised in the framework of the European Commission H2020-funded CASCADES project. The workshop will start at 9:30 CEST, and be followed by a lunch reception from 13:00 until 13:45. For those attending in person, the meeting will take place at the ECDPM office, Avenue des Arts 44, Brussels.
Focusing on the international dimension, the aim of this workshop is two-fold:
First, we will address how financial institutions, and development finance institutions (DFIs) in particular, can better assess and integrate climate risks in their risk strategies and methodologies, building on the presentation of science-based models and tools and their applications to finance portfolios.
Second, we will identify how European DFIs, public development banks and MDBs (EBRD, EIB) can more effectively scale up adaptation and resilience finance. We will focus on how to scale up complementarities and synergies between development cooperation and development finance actors, bridging the gap between the public sector, MDBs, DFIs and the private sector.
