Biography


Philomena Apiko is a Policy Officer in the Economic recovery and transformation and the African economic integration teams.

Philomena's work focuses on regional integration in Africa, trade and gender, African institutions and AU-EU relations. She leads the work on health, which includes a focus on the AU-EU health partnership, the EU Global Health Strategy, as well as analysing developments in local/regional production of medical products in Africa.

Philomena holds a bachelor’s (LLB) and a master’s degree (LLM) in human rights law from the University of Cape Town, as well as a master’s degree in international law and economics from the World Trade Institute in Bern.

Prior to joining ECDPM, Philomena worked as a legal researcher at Ditshwanelo – The Botswana Centre for Human Rights.

Philomena is also a member of the INCLUDE Platform.
