Biography


Amanda Bisong is a senior policy analyst in ECDPM's migration and mobilityAfrica economic integration, and AU-EU relations teams.

Her research and policy work focus on migration governance, labour mobility, diaspora and remittances, and the interlinkages between trade and migration in Africa. Her work critically examines the dynamics of AU-EU partnerships and offers insights into creating mutually beneficial and development-oriented cooperation frameworks. 

Amanda has a bachelor’s degree in law and holds two master’s degrees in International Law and Economics from the World Trade Institute in Bern, and in International Trade Policy and Trade Law from Lund University. She completed her PhD in International Law at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where she was awarded the rare distinction of cum laude for her outstanding dissertation on regional migration governance in West Africa.

Previously, Amanda led the Trade and Customs Unit at GIZ, overseeing EU-funded projects on regional integration in West Africa. She has also worked at the ECOWAS Trade Directorate, the National Association of Nigerian Traders, and the Nigerian Bar Association.

She is affiliated with several migration research networks and also teaches as a guest lecturer.
