The event will reflect on the status of the AU-EU partnership in the field of migration, ahead of the new European Commission in 2024 and the 3rd AU-EU ministerial summit and will explore what could be done to deliver a migration partnership more strongly oriented towards mutual developmental benefits, with speakers assessing challenges and concerns across all aspects of the migration partnership at this time of heightened tensions, reform and electoral change.

This panel discussion marks the first event of a three-year partnership project between
ETTG and the Open Society Foundations (OSF). This partnership, titled 'Assessing the
implications of the polycrises for Africa-Europe relations: Towards a more interest driven and equal Partnership?', aims to explore how both continents can build a genuine, interest-driven partnership of equals. In addition to this migration-themed event, this project will address a range of topics, including: security, green industrialization, climate finance, digitalisation and decoloniality.
