ACFTA’s digital trade agenda How can the Africa-Europe partnership contribute?
On 15 April 2026 from 15:00-17:00 CEST, ECDPM together with UNDP will host a high-level diplomatic dialogue bringing together African missions and EU permanent representations. As the AfCFTA’s digital trade agenda moves into a critical phase of implementation, this meeting will provide an update on the progress of the digital protocol.
This is a closed door and invite only meeting.
Background
The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is the most ambitious economic integration
initiative in Africa's history. With 54 signatory states and a combined market of over 1.4 billion
people, the AfCFTA represents a transformative opportunity to reshape the continent's economic
trajectory and its protocol on digital trade places digital transformation at the heart of that
ambition.
At the AfCFTA Secretariat in Brussels, a high-level diplomatic dialogue will take place to update on the progress of the implementation of the digital protocol and have a frank dialogue about what Africa-Europe partnership must look like to make AfCFTA's digital trade agenda a reality.
