Funding
We are able to deliver on our strategy thanks to funding from governments, particularly the Netherlands, and contributions from international institutions and organisations. Our unique funding situation allows us to maintain operational autonomy and set our own, non-partisan agenda.
Funders
ECDPM's core funder is the government of the Netherlands. Our other institutional partners include the governments of Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Ireland and Luxembourg.
We also receive programme and project funding from a diverse group of organisations and institutions. For example, we have carried out several projects funded by the European Commission, most of them strategic and thematic evaluations.
Types of funding
ECDPM receives three types of funding:
- Institutional funding, which is non-earmarked, flexible funding
- Medium-term funding, which is earmarked funding destined for specific ECDPM workstreams
- Short-term funding, which is funding destined for specific projects or products

We strive for the highest standards of accountability and transparency. Twice a year an external auditor reviews our finances, financial procedures and internal control mechanisms.
Since 2014, Transparify has evaluated the financial transparency of think tanks around the world. ECDPM has been consistently awarded its maximum five-star rating.

Registrations and credentials
We maintain the following official registrations, programme identifications and credentials to demonstrate eligibility and compliance for funding and partnership opportunities:
- ECDPM is an independent ‘think and do tank’ headquartered in Maastricht, the Netherlands, with an additional office in Brussels, Belgium.
- ECDPM is registered in the Netherlands as a ‘stichting’ (Dutch foundation), a non-profit legal entity under Dutch law. ECDPM is officially registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (‘Kamer van Koophandel’) under the name ‘Stichting Europees Centrum voor Ontwikkelingsmanagement / European Centre for Development Policy Management (ECDPM)’, registration number 41077447. Its registered address is Onze Lieve Vrouweplein 21, 6211 HE Maastricht, the Netherlands.
- ECDPM's registered VAT number is available on request for the Netherlands and Belgium.
- ECDPM is registered in the European Commission's Potential Applicant Data Online Registration (PADOR) database.
- ECDPM has a registered Participant Identification Code for EU Horizon funding.
- ECDPM is registered in the European Union's transparency register, number 738492215435-82.
- ECDPM is registered in the Public Register of Scientific Sponsors with the Ministry of Asylum and Migration's Immigration and Naturalisation Service in the Netherlands under Directive (EU) 2016/801.
- ECDPM holds Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
- ECDPM has an equivalency determination (ED) with NGOsource currently on file.
