Launch of Afrobarometer flagship report: Africa’s role in global policy debates
On 28 September 2026 from 15:30 to 18:00 CEST, Afrobarometer in partnership with ECDPM, are hosting an event to share findings from Afrobarometer's flagship report, Beyond borders: citizen perspectives on a shifting global order.
The launch event will convene senior policymakers, diplomats, researchers, think tanks, academia, civil society organisations, and media representatives to discuss the findings and their implications for Africa's engagement with the international community. The event will feature keynote reflections on the future of global governance, presentation of Afrobarometer's findings, and a high-level panel discussion on how citizen perspectives can strengthen Africa's voice and influence in global affairs.

About the report
The 2026 African insights report, the third in Afrobarometer’s annual flagship series, draws on nationally representative surveys across 38 countries surveyed in 2024/2025 to examine citizen attitudes on five aspects of Africa's relationship with the world:
- Trade: Do citizens support economic openness at a moment when parts of the developed world are retreating from it?
- Migration: How do Africans view free across borders movement? What is driving so many, especially the young, to consider leaving? And how do they view those who arrive in their countries from other countries?
- Great-power competition: In a world that increasingly demands that countries pick sides, whom do Africans look to, and are they willing to choose?
- Global voice: Do they support – and feel supported by – their regional and continental representatives, and back their calls for greater African representation in global institutions?
- Climate change: How do citizens view this global crisis and whom do they hold responsible for fixing it?
The report contributes evidence-based insights to ongoing discussions about reforming global governance, strengthening multilateral cooperation, and advancing Africa's interests in international forums
