Civic space is narrowing, and civil society actors face increasing pressures from repression to narratives that question their legitimacy. At the same time, initiatives like the Global Gateway reflect a shifting international cooperation landscape where strategic interests and democratic values intersect.
The upcoming Team Europe Democracy (TED) Working Group (WG) 2 webinar, co-moderated by the European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes (EADI) and German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS), will explore how civil society adapts and reinvents itself, and how donors can support civic agency without reinforcing harmful tropes. The interactive session will experiment by beginning with a Q&A, where the audience sets the direction, followed by a conversational panel with Oxfam, IDOS and the European Centre for Development Policy Management (ECDPM) discussing how to navigate these narrative crossroads.
An outcome document will be shared on the Team Europe Democracy Initiative - TED | Capacity4dev after the webinar.
