Kawsar Laanani


Kawsar Laanani, a French and Algerian national, is a Research Assistant in the Peace, security and resilience and the Inclusive governance and accountability workstreams.  Her work focuses on security, conflict, and governance issues in North and West Africa, and on processes of religious radicalization and violent extremism, based on a human security approach. She also works on advancing the understanding of post-colonial power dynamics in international relations.

Kawsar studied International Security for her Master’s at Sciences Po Paris, France, and specialised in understanding religious and socio-political realities in North Africa and in the Middle East. Before joining ECDPM, Kawsar worked for UNESCO as a Research Assistant on a study on education and social dialogue in Algeria and was a Researcher at the Observatory of the Middle Eastern Heritage.
