On Wednesday, May 20, the King’s Commissioner of Limburg – Mr. Theo Bovens – made a working visit to ECDPM. The Governor was welcomed by Ewald Wermuth and Geert Laporte, ECDPM’s Director and Deputy Director.
The visit included a guided tour of ECDPM’s historical building, the Pelican House. Mr. Theo Bovens was informed about the refurbishing of the building into office premises – carried out by the architects of INeX Architects Maastricht, who won the Victor de Stuers prize in 2011.
The Governor was also given a presentation about ECDPM’s history, mission and main activities. A range of issues was discussed, including the internationalisation of the Limburg Province and the EURegion, the enhancing of the collaboration between the different European knowledge institutions based in Maastricht, and key topics such as housing and accessibility to the city.
Moreover, ECDPM expressed its willingness to closely collaborate with the Province in the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the Maastricht Treaty taking place during 2017.
ECDPM’s Director, Ewald Wermuth, hands out the book “The Pelican House and ECDPM” to Mr. Theo Bovens.
