ECDPM is happy to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Afrobarometer to strengthen their collaboration on policy research in Africa and Europe. The partnership started on 1 January 2021 and will extend until the end of 2022.
The aim of the partnership is to combine high-quality data and sharp analysis on the key issues related to Africa-Europe relations as well as gather views on African citizens’ perspectives. Joining forces, the two organisations make best use of their expertise, in collecting data on Africans’ perceptions and evidence regarding democracy, governance, economy and society on the one hand and, independent policy expertise that contributes analysis, thorough research and fresh ideas on the other.
Afrobarometer and ECDPM will provide data and evidence-based research to inform national as well as international actors in Africa and Europe and enable them to develop policy and interventions. The partnership will combine the strengths of Afrobarometer as a pan-African network of research organisations with long-term experience in conducting nationally representative public opinion surveys in Africa and disseminating these widely, with the strengths of ECDPM as a leading independent think tank that wants to make policies in Europe and Africa work for inclusive and sustainable development.
In practice, ECDPM and Afrobarometer will look into specific projects to be agreed on a mutual and case-by-case basis. This will offer the two organisations the possibility of using each other’s knowledge and to promote all the related work in the respective communications channels.
