Carmen Torres is a Uruguayan, Costa Rican and Spanish national. She works in the Sustainable Food Systems team of ECDPM's Economic and Agricultural Transformation programme.
Before joining ECDPM, Carmen was Regional Marketing and Sales Manager at Baltimore Spice Central America, in San José, Costa Rica, lecturer at the Universidad Católica del Uruguay, as well as UNDP Expert at the Uruguayan National Food Institute, where among other tasks she was responsible for the development of the Strategic Plan 2011-2015 and the Food and Nutrition Surveillance System of the Observatory for Food and Nutrition Security of Uruguay.
She holds a Master's degree in Management of Food and Nutrition Security from the Costa Rica University. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the Institut National Agronomique Paris-Grignon (AgroParisTech).
