Can we still make a distinction between the outside world and Europe, in these times of massive migration, global instability and economic uncertainty? The alternating successes and failures of the European Union in its own region raises the question of how European development cooperation is performing. How has the European Development policy changed over the years? How does the new European Commission respond to global challenges? All eyes are on the European Union, now that 2015 has been declared ‘the European Year for Development’. Does their inclusive slogan ‘Our World, Our dignity, Our Future!’ accurately reflect the European development policy?
Maria Silvia Gatta, Head of Politics in the European commission Representation, will take a closer look at the role of the EU in the global arena and the influence of globalisation within Europe for our Bread&Brains lunch lecture.
