This policy dialogue event has been organised to coincide with the publication of the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) report “Unlocking Female Employment Potential in Europe: Drivers and Benefits”. The paper investigates the drivers and benefits behind female labour force participation in Europe, including the likely impact of greater gender diversity in senior corporate positions on Europe’s economic performance.

In many European countries, the process of closing the gender gap in the workplace is stalled, despite greater gender equality in human capital investment, declining birth rates, changing social norms, and equal legal access to employment opportunities. At this Policy Dialogue, speakers will discuss the findings of the IMF report, including the drivers of female employment in Europe, policies that encourage more women to take up work outside the home, and the implications of greater women presence in senior corporate positions on financial performance.
