On 25th May 2021 from 10:00 to 11:30 CEST, ECDPM’s Amanda Bisong will be a guest speaker on the panel ‘Migrations and human security’ at the international conference ‘Security and Development: challenges for Portugal, Europe and Africa’ which will take place on 24th-25th May 2021. The conference is being organised in the context of the project ‘Human security and development in EU-Africa relations: SDGs, migration and climate change”, and is co-funded by Camões IP, the Center for International Studies (CEI-Iscte) and the National Defence Institute (IDN).
Considering the goal of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2021 to boost and strengthen relations between the European Union and Africa, this conference will focus on contributing to the production of knowledge and to the interdisciplinary and intersectoral debate on the integration of national and European human security policies and development and, within these, the securitization of issues related to migrations and climate change.
The topics will be elaborated and discussed by means of 4 panels:
– Security, defence and development in EU-Africa relations;
– Security, defence and development in Portuguese cooperation with Africa;
– Migrations and human security and
– Climate change and human security.
