RULES OF WATER, RULES FOR LIFE (ROW) is an annual event on water as a legal asset and as a key element of sustainable development that will take place in Milan, in its very first edition.

The conference is organised under the auspices of the Italian Presidency of the G7.

The year 2017 will also marks the 25th anniversary of The Dublin Principles and represents an excellent occasion to review its implementation, as well as to share lessons learned and to disseminate actionable policy recommendations. These principles have been echoed in numerous policies and frameworks and, most importantly, they have been integrated into the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda (SDG 6).

The Forum promotes a multisectoral and a multidimensional discussion among representatives of academic community, lawmakers, regulators, experts from the private sector, international organisations, and governmental bodies. The forum will cover several topics such as drinking water supply in rural and in metropolitan areas, energy, food & agriculture, gender and health.

The Forum contributes to the international dialogue on the human right to water, as stated in the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. It will advocate the key role of water resources management in metropolitan areas (SDG 11) and gender sensitive water policies (SDG 5).

The event is part of the project Milano Global© and it is organized by Milan Center for Food Law and Policy.

ECDPM’s Francesco Rampa will speak in the session on “Commemorating the 25th Anniversary of Dublin Principles: Recognizing women as agents of change in water resources management.”
