FoodFIRST will organise a roundtable on the results of the EU Task Force Rural Africa (TFRA) report ‘An Africa-Europe agenda for rural transformation‘. The discussion will focus on smallholder farmers financing and will be chaired by Cees Veerman, with participants from the ‘Dutch Diamond’ of stakeholders (DGIS, Oikocredit, FMO, Rabobank, ICCO, Triodos, Agriterra, One Acre Fund, etc).
Francesco Rampa, head of ECDPM’s sustainable food systems team, is a member of the TFRA, which was created to advise the European Commission on how best to contribute to sustainable development and job creation in Africa’s agri-food sector and rural economy. As a panelist, he will present some of the recommendations of the TFRA and discuss how instruments like the European Investment Plan, and the Dutch Diamond more broadly, can work better for Africa’s smallholders, SMEs and local financial intermediaries.
ECDPM’s Jeske van Seters (member of the FoodFIRST steering committee) and Pamella Ahairwe will also participate in this event.
This roundtable is a closed-door event.
