Held under the patronage of the Commissions of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), the restricted meeting of the RPCA brings together the region’s key food and nutrition security stakeholders.
Participants will validate the final results of the 2016-17 agricultural campaign and take stock of the food and nutrition situation, in particular in north-eastern Nigeria and the broader Lake Chad basin, where food and nutritional assistance as well as structural recovery actions are urgently needed.
The RPCA will also host the Senior Experts Group meeting of the Global Alliance for Resilience (SEG-AGIR). Hosted at the OECD Conference Centre, this meeting will also offer many opportunities for dialogue, informal exchanges and networking between Sahelian and West African leaders, and their technical and financial partners.
The event is organised by the Permanent Interstate Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel (CILSS) and the Sahel and West Africa Club Secretariat (SWAC/OECD) and will bring together some 150 participants.
