The ECOWAS Commission has embarked on the preparation of the ECOWAP+10 Conference (Economic Community of West African State’s Agricultural Policy) to be held in November 2015. This conference will make a first assessment of performances and allow having a better understanding of inflections or reforms required in the light of results, achievements and lessons, identified limitations and new challenges facing the region and stakeholders.
The aim of the conference is to adjust the regional policy, its operational modalities and programmes (NAIPs, RAIP) by highlighting the achievements and lessons learnt from this past 10-year phase (in terms of general guidelines, content and priorities, governance and financing) and identifying new challenges and issues faced by agriculture, food and the environment in West Africa.
In view of the conference of mid-November 2015, ECOWAS is organising a preparatory technical workshop with the Member States and all stakeholders of the ECOWAP.
ECDPM is assisting ROPPA in preparing the “group of actors” note for this preparatory technical workshop.
