In September 2015 leaders from all around the world gathered to launch the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs focus on a broad agenda and ‘Ready for Change?’ emphasises on the importance of implementing this agenda. Implementation requires a collective effort by governments, research institutions, the private sector and civil society organizations. Representatives of all these stakeholders express their opinions in the dialogue that we aspire to facilitate at the international conference.

The day starts with Minister Lilliane Ploumen (tbc) whom receives the publication Ready for Change? and reflects on the role of the Netherlands and the EU in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. After that the Beyond 2015 Regional Coordinator for Africa and civil society leader, Stephen Chacha from Tanzania speaks about the role of the Global South in the implementation of the SDGs. An expert panel closes the morning plenary with a lively discussion, with. Hugo von Meijenfeldt from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ebba Dohlman from the OECD, Laura Sullivan from Concord and others.

In the afternoon  we will inspire the debate about  achieving specific SDGs by several interactive workshops. The day concludes with a debate between Dutch and European parliamentarians.
ECDPM has provided contributions to the paper accompanying the conference (introduction and chapters on food security and migration).  ECDPM’s Jeske van Seters will take part in the group discussion on food security and as a ‘key participant’ in the workshop on global value chains.
