Linking Food Security and Climate Change in Africa: What Role for the Private Sector?

With a focus on Africa, this Partners in Dialogue Session, to be held in Brussels, will discuss which policy and financial incentives can stimulate best practices for sustainability by businesses interested in investing in agriculture in developing countries. Representatives of the private sector will give examples of innovations and current approaches to more sustainable food systems, and government and development partner representatives will outline what policies and instruments are currently in place to help them.

Speakers are:

  • Ambassador Pio Wennubst, Assistant Director General, Head of the Global Cooperation Department at SDC
  • Dr. Roberto Ridolfi, Director Directorate C –  Sustainable Growth and Development, DG DEVCO
  • Ms. Gerda Verburg, Chair of the Global Agenda Council on Food & Nutrition Security (WEF)
  • Ms. Karen Cooper, Nutrition & Sustainability, Nestlé

ECDPM’s Ewald Wermuth will moderate the session.
