This first FriEnt Peacebuilding Forum, “Seizing Opportunities – Peacebuilding in a Complex World” will focus on the changes and challenges facing peacebuilding in the coming years. At the international level, the calls for more conflict prevention and peacebuilding have become louder in recent years. At the same time, new actors are steadily gaining in relevance who are increasingly sceptical about current – Western-influenced – peacebuilding paradigms. Fragile and conflict-affected states, for their part, are demanding that international partners align their engagement to these countries’ own strategies for overcoming fragility and conflict. In view of these dynamics and the complexity of conflict- and post-conflict situations, peacebuilding policy and practice must constantly evolve and adapt.
