|Informal policy dialogue
On 14 September 2016, the European Commission announced its proposal for an ambitious External Investment Plan to support investment in Africa and the UE’s Southern and Eastern Neighbourhood. The Plan aims to promote, inter alia, a new model of private sector participation in development finance and contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The objective is for the EIP to be operational by Autumn 2017 and to presented at the EU-Africa Summit as well as the Eastern Partnership Summit in November 2017.
The objective of this informal consultation meeting is to have an exchange on the proposal and concrete ways for civil society to contribute to the successful implementation of the initiative.
