This meeting will provide an opportunity for experts from the different RECs and the Ambassadors in Brussels to exchange information and experiences on the negotiation of the EPAs. It will also provide an opportunity to engage with the private sector, think tanks and other stakeholders on some of the major issues relating to the EPA.

The debates will focus on:

a. Share information on current EPA texts – including a joint review of provisions in the different regional texts in order to identify divergences, share experiences and identify best practices on how to address common contentious issues;
b. Develop legal provisions to ensure that EPAs can be reviewed in line with paragraph 42 of the EU – Africa Summit Declaration if those agreements impede or threaten Africa’s integration.

ECDPM’s Isabelle Ramdoo will make a presentation that is available here.
