The future of EU assistance for third countries, including its neighbours and developing countries, with a proposed total of nearly EUR 90 billion (2021-2027), will be discussed in a public hearing by MEPs and experts on Tuesday, 9 October.

The hearing aims to help shape Parliament’s position on the proposed “Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument” (NDICI) of the EU, which the Committees on Foreign Affairs (AFET) and on Development (DEVE) will jointly draft over the coming weeks, ahead of negotiations with the Council. Invited experts and civil society representatives will be asked how best to ensure that the instrument makes a significant contrition to financing sustainable development, to enhancing policy coherence for development and to making the EU a more effective global player.

ECDPM’s Alexei Jones will be speak at this event.
