This is a closed door meeting.

The bilateral European Financial Institutions from France (AFD) and Germany (KfW Development Bank) as well as the European Development Finance Institutions (EDFIs) are important partners for the EU in the field of external action.  The EU Blending Facilities and the External Investment Plan are two relevant fields of cooperation.

The EU Commission recently published its proposal for new external instruments under the next MFF. Important changes are an increased external action budget of €123 billion, a new investment framework for external action, a significantly simplified structure, and more flexibility and effectiveness to address today’s global challenges.

How can member states’ financial institutions support the achievement of EU policy targets through the implementation of EU funds under the new MFF? How will the new MFF affect the cooperation between financial institutions and the EU Commission?

These points are being discussed at a panel discussion with representatives from DG DEVCO, DG NEAR and the bilateral Financial Institutions. ECDPM’s San Bilal will moderate one of the panel discussions.
