The 5th Africa-EU Summit in 2017 will be a key opportunity to address common challenges and opportunities. Whereas Africa has set the tone for the continent’s development with its Agenda 2063, the EU is working on its new Africa strategy. Moreover, Germany is putting a strong focus on Africa during its G20 presidency. The so-called “German Marshall-Plan for Africa” aims at “finding a true path for peace and development in our cooperation”.

The conference´s key-note will be held by Mr Guenter Nooke, the German Chancellor´s Personal Representative for Africa at the Federal Ministry for Cooperation and Economic Development (BMZ).

The event aims at exchanging views on strategies of future Africa-EU cooperation. Representatives from European and African institutions, think tanks, the civil society and business will discuss the German and European vision on the course for sustainable change in Africa.

ECDPM’s Geert Laporte will speak at this conference.
