Biography

Matthias, a Belgian national, is a Policy Officer in ECDPM’s Security and Resilience Programme. His current activities mainly focus on crisis prevention, peacebuilding and statebuilding, as well as the institutional and political aspects of the EU’s security and development policies. He also has a specific interest in the role of education and health in emergencies and transitions towards stability.

Matthias holds an Msc in International Relations and Diplomacy of the Antwerp University and an MA Linguistics and Literature English-German of the Gent University. He previously worked at the UNESCO Liaison Office in Brussels and Representation to the EU and held the function of Assistant Liaison Officer. Before joining the UNESCO Liaison Office he worked at DSW as a consultant and as EU Advocacy Assistant. Matthias also worked as an intern at the Embassy of Belgium in Washington DC.
