Head – European foreign and development policy

Biography


Alexei Jones is the head of ECDPM's European foreign and development policy team.

Alexei's academic background is in international and European law, which he studied at the University of Aix-en-Provence. Alexei holds a PhD in public international law and development studies from the University of Nice – Sophia Antipolis. 

Before joining ECDPM, Alexei worked as an independent consultant providing technical expertise and policy advice to various public policy institutions and organisations, including the European Commission, CONCORD, ENoP, the ACP Secretariat, and GIZ. Most recently, he has served as a counsellor and adviser for several EU Council presidencies.

Prior to this, Alexei worked as a policy officer at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development, and as a university lecturer and visiting researcher at ENDA Tiers-monde in Senegal. Alexei is also a part-time lecturer at Sciences Po Lille.
