Mayor of Maastricht visits ECDPM

16-09-2016

On Wednesday 8 September, the Mayor of Maastricht, Ms. Annemarie Penn-te Strake visited the European Centre for Development Policy (ECDPM).

Mayor Penn-te Strake was welcomed by all staff members of the Centre and received a guided tour of ECDPM’s historical building, the Pelican House. ECDPM’s Director Ewald Wermuth and Deputy Director Geert Laporte took the opportunity to explain how and when the Centre was created, and what it aims to achieve.

The upcoming 25th anniversary of the Maastricht Treaty (MT25) was also discussed, since ECDPM will take part to the MT25 celebration activities. During the week of celebrations starting on 4 February 2017, it will open its doors for an ‘open house’ day for those interested in discovering the building and in knowing more about ECDPM’s work.

We thank Mayor Penn-te Strake for visiting ECDPM and, thereby, strengthening the link between the Centre and the city of Maastricht.
