Responsible Sourcing of Minerals Originating from Conflict-affected Areas

Mazungumzo in co-operation with AmCham EU has the pleasure of inviting you to attend a workshop on Sustainable Sourcing of Minerals.

John KANINDA, lawyer and consultant to leading mining companies in central Africa; currently a member of the team led by former SA President Mbeki to develop transparency rules for the UN Economic Commission for Africa & the African Union. He is an expert on the mining sector in Africa and will present an analysis of its political, economic, ecological and social complexities.

Andrew KAKABADSE, professor at Henley Business School, University of Reading; chairman of the Directors Forum; advisor to the UN, business and governments worldwide. He is a good experience of the Board and management problems facing companies in the mining sector or those relying on them for sourcing.

Opening by STEFAN SCHEPERS, founder and chairman of the Governing Council of the think tank Mazungumzo – the African Forum in Brussels, which was involved in the developments of the EU transparency proposals.

The Workshop will be chaired by Meglena MIHOVA, Managing Partner of EPPA and Chair of the Environment Committee of the AmCham EU.
