In light of the new frameworks for partnership and cooperation, SADC and the EU need to reconfirm their common objectives for economic growth and partnership and enter into a dialogue on how to achieve those goals. This dialogue should be open minded and should focus on the policies, decisions and instruments that need to be put in place to achieve our common goals as well as the obstacles to implement those policies and instruments to facilitate reforms and actions.

The meeting will provide the first opportunity for a policy dialogue between SADC and the EU on economic partnership and conclusions should provide guidelines for policy dialogue at national level. Conclusions could also provide useful inputs for the formulation of support under the various instruments to be deployed to promote the common agenda. Specific attention should be paid to sustainable value chains where the national, the regional and the international trade and growth strategies should come together.
