The use of budget support to improve domestic revenue mobilisation in sub-Saharan Africa

Start:

End:

This first audit report on the EU’s support to improve revenue of sub-Saharan countries touches upon one of the development goals set by the United Nations. The generation of government revenue is a crucial factor for sustainable development and therefore also a priority of the EU development policy. In this report, the EU Auditors state that, despite recent improvements, budget support is not yet optimally used to support revenue mobilisation in the countries audited. In particular, they identified a number of aspects that need improvement such as the conditions linked to the support that is provided by the EU and the measurement of results of this policy.
